"I have lived with the experiences that this show is based on for nearly a decade. At its roots, The Retail Song Cycle is a very human story, and appeals to anyone who has ever been taken advantage of by their jobs. These experiences require empathy and understanding of situations that not only oppose an outsider’s perspective, but that contradict standard societal norms such as “The Customer is always right.” As a result, I have experimented with forms, styles, perspectives, and metaphors to tell this chapter of my life. This story looks at what can break a person down, what in our jobs can become too much to bear, where will a person draw the line. It questions is livelihood worth the suffering that we sometimes feel?"
